A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
